Our story
Baked by Esme is a Haitian, Black, LGBTQ+ owned Microbakery. With a lifelong passion for baking, owner and founder Esme of Portland, OR creates artisanal baked goods for your everyday needs and special occasions. Baking is skill that has fed and brought people together for 14,000 years. We are proud to continue this wholesome tradition.
We truly believe that all people deserve quality baked goods with local and ethically sourced ingredients. At Baked by Esme, we strive for a more just global food chain that empowers farmers, the environment, and baked goods connisseurs. We are incredibly grateful for our pattrons support both big and small. We cannot do this without our communities.
Our ingredients
Currently, we use king arthur and kirkland organic unbromated, unbleached flours. However, we strive to work with local farmers to source all of the grains, fruit, and dairy that go into our breads and pastries. We see the farmers who mill and harvest our grains, the bakers, to the very earth that produces such ambundance as sacrred. This love is transferred into passion and care to each loaf they make. We know the global food chain is fraught with explotation and abuse. Here at Baked by Esme, we go to great lengths to avod contributing to that destruction. When sourcing ingredients that do not grow in the PNW we opt for fairtrade and organic. At Baked by Esme, you can trust that we use the highest quality ingredients for our patrons.
